Aneqdot Rose Long Umbrella

A rain and sun umbrella created in collaboration with hand-woven artist and designer Fumi Hotta

Aneqdot comes from the Swedish word Anekdot, which means "a little story about it." The brand embodies our desire to cherish objects, the stories surrounding them, and the tales that emerge as we use them.

From the archives of Makita Shoten, we have arranged a design based on the traditional local technique of "hogushi weaving," and expressed the delicate faded look of the hogushi weaving technique in multicolored fabric, resulting in a delicate and stylish long umbrella for women.

The impression changes dramatically depending on the color, and the unique patterns are well-balanced, creating an appealing combination of complexity and lightness. It's also UV-resistant, making it suitable for both sunny and rainy days, so it's also recommended as a parasol. Enjoy the fusion of Nordic and Japanese styles.

Fumi Hotta

For about 10 years, she was based in Sweden and worked internationally as a handwoven artist and designer, earning high praise for her techniques. In 2016, she moved her base of operations to Yamanashi Prefecture, and the following year resumed the production and sale of textile products under her own brand, "Aneqdot." She plans to expand her activities both domestically and internationally, and will be based in Nagoya from 2025.
