ORIGINAL TEXTILE

[For corporate customers only] For customers who want to order original jacquard fabrics

Would you like to create your own original jacquard fabric? Makita Shoten, located at the foot of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture, owns a large-scale jacquard loom capable of weaving large patterns with a fabric width of approximately 1,800 mm. While carrying on the high level of traditional Kai silk techniques, we have been creating jacquard fabrics in collaboration with apparel manufacturers both in Japan and overseas. Makita Shoten has a textile designer on staff, so we can propose textile designs and textures that match the image you are aiming for. We will introduce you to fabric designs and fabric widths based on the characteristics of our looms, as well as tips for ordering in small lots.

1. Jacquard Fabric: A high-density fabric popular worldwide

What is jacquard fabric?

Woven on a loom invented by the French inventor Jacquard, this luxurious, three-dimensional fabric features warp and weft threads that weave patterns and designs. It can express complex designs delicately, and depending on the threads and materials used, it is used in a wide range of applications, from clothing to umbrellas, ties, and interior goods.

The correct name is "jacquard," but in Japan it is commonly called "jaguard" because it is easier to pronounce, so we will refer to it as jacquard here.

Fabrics woven at the foot of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture are a perfect match for jacquard looms.

The fabrics woven in the Gunnai region are characterized by "pre-dyed" fabrics, where the yarns are dyed before the fabric is woven, and by "high density" fabrics, where the yarns are woven with fine warp and weft threads.

Pre-dyed yarns are less likely to fade and can produce deep, luxurious colors, so their appeal lies in the fact that by weaving thin threads at high density on a jacquard loom, complex colors and patterns can be clearly expressed.

A long-established weaver with over 150 years of history, skilled craftsmen carefully weave each piece.

Founded in 1866, Makita Shoten has been producing high-quality, beautiful original umbrellas and cutting-edge fabrics for many years, while inheriting the techniques of the traditional local fabric, Kai silk.

Currently, we own a total of 10 machines, including high-speed jacquard looms and looms that can weave large patterns with a fabric width of 1,800 mm, and we create products together with domestic and international apparel brand companies.

Even if you are ordering textiles for the first time, you can place your order with confidence.

Makita Shoten has several textile designers with specialized knowledge on staff who will support you through the entire process, from design consultations to the type of thread, material, and color scheme to weaving the fabric.

If you have a design you would like to see woven, or an image of a fabric you would like to create, please feel free to contact the Planning Department at Makita Shoten.

3. Fabric size

The width (horizontal width) of fabric that can be woven is determined by the loom. Makita Shoten can make jacquard fabric in four main fabric widths.
* There are no restrictions on the vertical direction for any loom.
*The density of the warp threads varies depending on the loom.

Type A (3 types)

This type of loom always weaves at half width design x 2 = full fabric width.

1. Horizontal direction: 60cm wide x 2 = 120cm

Please design the pattern within a width of 60cm . The same pattern will be repeated on half of the fabric.

2. Horizontal direction: 70cm wide x 2 = 140cm

Please design the pattern within a width of 70cm . The same pattern will be repeated on half of the fabric.

3. Horizontal direction: 90cm wide x 2 = 180cm

Please design the pattern within a width of 90cm . The same pattern will be repeated on half of the fabric.

Type B (1 type)

Horizontal width 180cm

It is possible to weave large jacquard patterns up to 180cm in the horizontal direction.

4. Small lot production available

Since we manufacture in our own factory, we can also accept small lot orders.
Please let us know the number of meters you would like.

  • Economic lot: 300M and up
  • Minimum lot size: Negotiable

*We can also accept orders for small meters such as 50m and 100m.

5.Price

The design data you request will be converted into data for a weaving machine using specialized software.

The basic price is [fabric data creation fee] + [fabric fee] .
If you wish to create a design from design data, there will be an additional design creation fee.

The cost of fabric is determined by the thread material, technique, and the number of lots (meters) ordered.

*Prices vary depending on the fabric used.
Please consider this as a guideline only.

5. Delivery time

60 to 90 days after design is finalized

*Delivery time is only an estimate.
It depends on the availability of the loom and the fabric.
Once the design is finalized and a trial weaving (sample weaving) is carried out, an approximate delivery date can be determined when the actual fabric is woven.
