Umbrella cloth bag, a sub-bag made from umbrella fabric, now available on our online store

We have received many inquiries about our umbrella cloth sub-bag, the "Umbrella cloth bag," and it is now available on our e-commerce site!

Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, we are currently refraining from unnecessary outings, and I think that going shopping at supermarkets and other places is a way to relax.

The fifth-generation wife, Haruko Makita, hopes that her colorful and patterned woven bags will make everyday life a little more comfortable and convenient, and so, in order to make them available to as many people as possible, for the first time, they have decided to sell them through their own online shop and on Creema, a mail-order and retail site for handmade items.

When making umbrellas, there are always leftover pieces of fabric and thread that cannot be used, such as scraps and weaving defects. Haruko Makita, the wife of the fifth generation owner of Makita Shoten, therefore came up with the idea of creating a bag that can be used every day, so as not to waste the remaining umbrella fabric and so that people can use it in their daily lives.

It took about 10 years of trial and error to create a product that was easy to use and was designed from a housewife's perspective.

It's made based on the largest size of a plastic shopping bag and has a gusset, so it can hold a lot of things. It folds up very compactly, making it perfect for carrying around.
You can use it as an eco-bag when shopping, to protect your bag on rainy days, or to protect your leather bag from scratches when riding a bicycle. You can also put wet towels in it when you go to a hot spring or camping.

It can be washed and reused, making it hygienic to use.
If the water-repellent properties start to weaken, ironing at low to medium temperatures will improve the water-repellent properties.

This umbrella fabric bag is packed with our thoughts on umbrella fabric and lots of little ingenious touches and attention to detail.
