We are launching a virtual showroom, "Makita Shoten Textile Department," using Instagram.

~Textile proposals from textile producing regions with an eye toward the post-COVID era~

Makita Shoten Co., Ltd. (Head office: 1717 Onuma, Nishikatsura-cho, Minamitsuru-gun, Yamanashi Prefecture; Representative Director: Norio Makita) has launched a Makita Shoten Textile Department account (@makita_textile) on the photo-sharing social networking site Instagram to respond to the current situation where exhibitions have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be proposing materials to designers, apparel manufacturers, and others.

<Three characteristics of Makita Shoten's textile department>
1. You can check out the pre-dyed fabrics woven by Makita Shoten at any time through visuals such as photos and videos.
2. You can check the fabric composition, width, weight, and purpose in text.
3. Individual inquiries can be made via comments or direct messages, such as requests for different sizes and development based on the featured fabrics.


<Reasons for launching Makita Shoten's Textile Department>
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, all exhibitions for the new season have been canceled, and with requests to refrain from traveling outside the prefecture, it is difficult to hold face-to-face business negotiations.
In this environment, more and more people are using the web to search for things, and we have heard people say that they cannot see materials because there are no exhibitions. We thought that by using Instagram, which can disseminate information visually, to introduce materials, we could visually suggest fabrics to people looking for new materials.


<Proposal from Makita Shoten Textile Department>
Participants will be able to check the pattern, surface texture, and shine of each fabric using photographs taken from different camera angles. Videos will also be used to show the drape and tension of the fabric, as well as the chambray feel that is unique to yarn-dyed fabrics. The movements in the videos were inspired by the movements that Makita Shoten's Textile Department has seen customers make during business negotiations. The text clearly states the material, composition, fabric width, and weight, and also suggests uses, further enhancing the image of how the fabrics will be used.

We will use direct messages to respond to individual inquiries, such as about garment quantities and the development of original fabrics, allowing for more in-depth development.
In the future, we will be using IGTV and Instagram Live to present more dynamic textile proposals.
