It was featured in JR East's Shinkansen in-car magazine "Transveil"!
Makita Shoten was featured in the January 2025 issue (Vol. 442) of "Transvert," a Shinkansen in-car service magazine published by JR East!
The theme of this issue is "My First Trip to Yamanashi to Buy Weaving Cloth," and we will be touring the textile towns of Fujiyoshida City and Nishikatsura Town in Yamanashi Prefecture.
We were introduced to the charms and history of each store as we toured them, including Makita Shoten, which sells umbrellas, as well as organic cotton, scarves, ties and other items unique to this region!
We are also introducing the "Textile Project," an industry-academia collaboration between weavers and students.
They are installed in the seat pockets of Shinkansen trains operated by JR East (Tohoku, Yamagata, Akita, Joetsu, and Hokuriku), so please take a look! (You can take one home with you!)
